Sidewinder Challenge Rogaine Style Adventure Race October 7, 2006-Race Cancelled San Angelo State Park San Angelo, TX Real Adventure Real Navigation Real FUN! Race Facts: As a thank you to all of our racers we are offering this race for free. If folks would like to donate a small fee to our international adoption fund on race day, it will be greatly appreciated. We completed the adoption of our daughter from Russia on June 30, 2005. We want to continue to help others bring children home and continue to help the children still in the orphanage Zhenia was from. Racers will need to pay for all camping and day use fees at San Angelo State Park and will need to provide their own map. The Sidewinder will be an 8 to 12 hour Rogaine Style Adventure Race. Rogaine is an orienteering term used for an orienteering event with many control points and a set time limit to find as many as you can. Each control has a difficulty point scale. You bring your running shoes, compass, mountain bike, road bike, roller blades, scooter, etc..... You provide the USGS 1:24,000 map. We will provide boat, pfd and paddle if needed. If you have your own boat and want to bring it, you may. We give you CP UTM Coordinates. You have 12 hours to find as many CP's as you can using your legs, mt. bike or boat. You decide the order and which CP's to attempt to find. There will be at least 30 Check-points. There will be rules such as you must stay on trail with your bike and you must stay within the boundary of the park. After teams register a pre-race info packet and gear list will be emailed to team captains. Maps must be ordered by you at www.mytopo.com Tell mytopo.com that you need the Rattlesnake Racing Sidewinder Challenge Map. Race Disciplines 2,3, or 4 person Teams Coed, Men's, Women's and Master's (Age Totals = 80, 120, 160 Each team member does not need to be 40.) Location – San Angelo State Park, Registration-If you are going to do this race, please register by September 30, 2006.
