Due to enviromental reasons and Lake Geogetown being down 14 feet and Russell Park being closed to the public this season, we will be unable to set up or host the Lake Georgetown Spring Fling at Russell Park on Lake Georgetown on May 20, 2006.  The Army Corp of Engineers for Lake Georgetown can be contacted at 500 Cedar Breaks Road, Georgetown, TX 78628 Attn. Lake Georgetown Spring Fling Adventure Sprint

Get ready for some technical mountain biking on this course. The bike trail travels through tight, rocky single track and jeep roads. Expect to carry your trekking shoes with you on the bikes. Paddling will be across open water on Lake Georgetown. This will be one fun and challenging course.

6 Hour ROGAINE Style Sprint-Rogaine is an orienteering term used for an orienteering event with many control points and a set time limit to find as many as you can.  Each control has a difficulty point scale.   There will  be a trek ROGAINE Leg, a Bike/Trek ROGAINE Leg, and a Paddle/Trek ROGAINE Leg with a six hour time limit.

Registration for each race will close 3 days prior to race date

Kayak Rentals

Disciplines - All Rattlesnake races are real adventure races.  They are not off-road triathlons in which teams follow marked trails.  

3-5 mile trek - requires navigation skills using USGS 1:24,000 map (The navigation at the sprint races is designed to introduce new racers to the sport of real adventure racing.  We have land nav experts in the TA to help new teams.)
6-12 mile mountain bike
2-5 mile paddle (including portages) - requires navigation skills

Awards

Awards will depend on sponsorship of race.              

Boats:

* All teams must provide their own pfd's, paddles and canoe or kayak(s) for the race.  There are no restrictions for the boats, except that they be a non-motorized canoe or kayak.  There are many rental canoes and kayaks available in Texas.

* Sit-on-topo roto-molded Ocean and Cobra kayaks, pfd's and paddles are available from Rattlesnake Adventure Sports Gear, but reservations for these boats must be made with registration prior to race day.  A limited number of boats are available.  Therefore, reservations must be made at leiza@rattlesnakeracing.com or 940.256.0769.  Boats rented from Rattlesnake Adventure Sports Gear will be transported to the race site for the teams.

* Teams not renting boats from Rattlesnake Adventure Sports Gear must provide transportation for their own boats and gear.
