Dear Leiza, Corey, and Jim,
I just wanted to say thanks for putting on a great race. We all had a
great time and a challenging time. I really appreciate that you rescued
us from the water in the middle of a bad storm. I have been struck by
lightning and was terrified. Seeing you out there to help us- well, you
will never know how much that meant to me. The race was excellent and we
had such a great time. It is good to know there are people out there
who really take the time and care about putting on a class act event. I
am sure we will be back next year. YOu guys were very organized and it
was evident that you spent so much time preparing for this. I really
appreciate all you did. Thank you very much.

thanks to John and Leiza and Corey for putting on a great event!! The weather was
great (better than it has been!) and great people. Couldn't ask for a better race
day. One word of advice....don't race 3 days after you have had the worst flu of
your life....it will come back to haunt you!!!
It was nice to meet those of you I haven't met b4 and great to see those of you I
haven't seen in a while. Look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Take care, Aimee
Leiza, that echos more accurately my shorter but heart felt thanks that I
sent you earlier for a great race. I look forward to your future races as
well. Please email me with future race info and like Reagan said, if I can't
race I would like to help out. I am very glad that you made sure that my
friends that were still racing were going to be okay during the storm.
And I think your sprint series will do great things to bring future racers
into the sport. A got an email from a woman today asking me how to get
started. I told her to try one of your sprint series.
I sent an email extolling the Sidewinder and mentioning the sprint series
and the 24 race on the Austin AR list but I didn't have any details to pass
on so please as they develop I would be happy to pass on the info here.
Elena
Leiza, Jim, Corey, & everyone else who makes Rattlesnake Racing the
phenomenal race promotion organization that it is:
Just wanted to extend a HUGE thanks on behalf of myself, my teammates, our
support team member, and our sometimes feisty team mascot to all you for the
wonderful planning and execution of this past weekend's Sidewinder 2000
event. It was our first race together as a team, and the longest race I've
done in several years. Your hard work made it the most enjoyable and
rewarding race that I've ever done. I congratulate you all on a wonderful
turnout. Great job setting up a challenging course that was perfect in its
complexity, navigability, and surprise element. As was evident by the final
standings - it was possible to navigate correctly and finish before dark,
but it was not without the possibility for error, misinterpretation, or
misjudgment on the part of the racers which caused some teams to take a bit
longer. I think it was a perfect level of difficulty for the range of teams
that competed.
Even the weather was perfect! At times we were thanking the heavens for the
cloud-cover which kept the sun off our backs, while other times we were
cursing the heat. We didn't have to deal with the early evening storm that
rolled in, but even if we had - it would have added to the experience. All
the unknowns, all the surprises, all the highs and lows made it a great
race. And yet the things which really mattered like the safety of the
racers, organization & communication by race management, and clear
objectives (if you listened well & didn't make mistakes while navigating)
were all in order and WITHOUT unnecessary or dangerous unknowns.
I liked the riddles. I liked the technical level of the biking. I liked
that the coordinates put some trekking checkpoints in what appeared to be
the middle of the lake on the maps. I liked the team challenges. I liked
the kayaking sections (even in Sevylors!). I liked the fact that some
trekking sections were faster directly through the bush and some were faster
if you took a longer route along jeep trails and park roads. I liked the
fact that we got to see a large part of the park and appreciate all it has
to offer (even the dried up pool of dead alligator gar in the riverbed).
We had a blast, we learned a great deal from our choices during the race
(both good and bad), and we will all race better in the future as a result.
Thank you all and keep up the great work. I look forward to your events in
the future, and if I am unable to compete, I will be willing to volunteer to
help you pull of another successful race.
Sincerely grateful,
Reagan Evans

what a blast, a great weekend, thanks one and all.
the tests were simple but effective, the biking fun, the paddle, not so much fun but hey
what do you expect in a sevy ? and the hiking/land nav was very well thought out, offering
good options of route choices and covering plenty of the park. the volunteers were
helpful and friendly and it wasn't too hot [well not all the time anyway]
i had hoped for a good result to take back to england with me, and hey we surpassed
ourselves ! thank you so much leiza, jim, corey, nancy and all your team. i
will really miss you, who knows i may come back to texas again just to race with you.
any time you fancy a trip to england let me know....
